Cortland Acres, Odyssey Rehabilitation partner to expand therapy services
THOMAS, W.VA. – Cortland Acres has partnered with Odyssey Rehabilitation to provide outstanding care to short- and long-term inpatient clients at Cortland.
As part of the agreement that started this spring, Odyssey will coordinate physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy services for inpatient clients and residents at Cortland Acres. Odyssey also assists with outpatient care when necessary.
“Cortland is committed to providing the best possible care to people, and Odyssey shares that value,” Administrator Beth Clevenger said. “We’re able to offer additional rehabilitation and therapy services, which helps every person reach their full potential. We focus on short-term and long-term rehabilitation.”
Mike Dotson, chief sales officer for Odyssey Rehabilitation, said the two entities already have proven to be a good fit for each other.
“Odyssey is committed to consistently providing the best possible patient care for residents,” Dotson said. “We have different individualized plans for different people – the goal is to maximize everyone’s potential.”
Dotson said a variety of programs can be implemented to address specific items such as falls, dementia, incontinence or other issues that arise.
“We see what fits based on the population’s needs and screen quarterly to see what changes or additions need to be made,” he said.
Odyssey’s team works closely with Cortland Acres staff members on a daily basis and is fully integrated into Cortland’s existing team of health care professionals.
Odyssey is based in Bridgeport and works across West Virginia and Virginia. The company, originally started in 2006 as West Virginia Therapy Services, now provides services to more than two dozen facilities.

Clevenger noted that Cortland’s outpatient rehabilitation and therapy team, under the leadership of Physical Therapist Alisha McCune, will continue to provide the same great service to outpatients.
